Enabled Tutoring

Assessing was done during the week of July 5th.  Fourteen children were evaluated on areas of need. An individual program was developed for each student in either reading or math. A special thanks to our teachers Loretta Spradling and Susan Varner who developed the lessons.  The tutors are Hannah Taulbee, Rebecca Mitchell, Krista Spradling, Eric Messer, Caleb Moore, Myra Jackson, Rachel Jackson, Laura Jackson, and Beverly Sixt. Please pray as we make contacts with these families in our community that they will see the love of Christ.

Here are some sights from Tuesday’s tutoring.  We had to begin a waiting list for more students.  Enabled Ministries could use many more volunteers.

LET’S GO!

LET’S GO!
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
(Colossians 1:10-14, KJV)

This is a great time to be a member at Grace! The opportunities to serve are bountiful! Right now there are over 20 baby Christians that need to be visited, baptized, discipled, and taught to lead others to Christ. If you are willing to give even just a few hours a week or every other week, then we need you. There is a need for people to step up and give of their time and talents to work in the Enabled Outreach.

Here in Colossians, Paul is saying how we are saved from our sins, but we don’t stop there. We have to be fruitful and growing in the knowledge of God. Think about this for just a moment: increasing in the knowledge of God. We know God. Let me say this differently. WE KNOW GOD. God, through his Word, reveals himself to us so we may know Him! God of the universe. God of all time. The same God that is Alpha and Omega has allowed us to know Him. WOW! Selah!

When we are saved, we are removed from the darkness of sin and moved into the light of God. How is this transition to be understood for the new Christian? This is where you come in to play. As a child of God yourself, we can train you (increase your knowledge of God) to disciple others. If you are ready to disciple others, then please email me. Right now I have a list of folks waiting to be reached and discipled.

Tutoring Update – Brochures Approved!

Posted by mfernandez | Posted in Tutoring | Posted on 07-04-2010

For our tutoring ministry, we had to get brochures approved by the Middletown City Schools.  Debbie Sallee took it upon herself to take the brochure to the correct location, and she now has the pink paper that gives her the approval to take the brochure to all the schools in Middletown!  Praise the Lord!

Soon, she will have 3,000 printed brochures to distribute to all of the elementary schools.  Please keep this ministry in prayer.  Once this is completed, we will proceed with scheduling students for tutoring.

Enabled Tutoring Update

Posted by mfernandez | Posted in Tutoring | Posted on 09-03-2010

Well, we are officially off though we have no students yet.  This is brand new territory for us, but God will give the increase.  Here are things currently being worked on for this ministry:

  • Public school brochures: Debbie Sallee is working with Beverly Stamper (Tutoring Director) to get brochures that will be acceptable in the public school system.  Debbie made a visit to Wildwood Elementary last week, and this was the suggestion given.  These will then be given to all elementary and middle schools in Middletown.
  • Ed Choice Project: For those of you not familiar with Ed Choice, this is a scholarship program for students living in areas where their schools have failed academic testing.  Beverly Stamper, Debbie Sallee, and Lorretta Spradling are working together to put a plan in place to begin July 6th for all students participating in this scholarship who will be attending MCS.  Please pray for them as they work towards this end.

There is still much to be done as well as many more ministries to initiate.  Please pray about volunteering in some way.  We can really use the help, and the Lord will bless you for it.

Just a brief reminder that February 7th, following the AM service there will be an open house for all of the GBC church family.  Food and beverages will be available at the facility.  You may take your own transportation or take the church greyhound that will be pulling out at 12:45 PM.  Hope to see you there.

Just a brief reminder that next Sunday, February 7th there will be the Enabled Ministries open house for church families.  We would like to see a very good turn out from you.  It will be from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.  There will be finger foods and beverages for everyone.

During this time you will be able to tour the facility and see what is involved in this “grass roots” time.  Show your support, and plan on attending.

Tutoring Decorations Begin

Posted by mfernandez | Posted in Tutoring | Posted on 28-01-2010

The cubicles are now being decorated for Enabled Tutoring.  We are truly praying for the Lord to use this ministry for His glory.  Not only do we desire to aid students who are struggling in academics, but we pray that we will have the perpetual opportunity to share Christ with them.

There are still some supplies that are needed.  If you have any questions about possibly helping or supplying some products, please see Beverly ASAP.

Supplies are arriving…

Posted by mfernandez | Posted in Addiction, Benevolence, Enabled General, Tutoring | Posted on 21-01-2010

Over the last week, much has been getting done.  The plumbing was corrected by Bro. Cramer.  In addition to this, the supplies for the building have been coming in, which include: office supplies, benevolence donations, printed material…

There is still much work to be done, and if you missed the January 17th meeting, please see one of the ministry directors to learn how you may be able to get involved.  There is still a great need for workers.  The Benevolence ministry may offer the “entry level” opportunity for someone that is just not sure what to do.  See Brian Messer about this ministry as soon as possible.
